Coast Covered in Snow Need Coat Racks
Marshal Rosenthal
Winter brings with it a multitude of problems from the snow that shows up, from icy streets and downed power lines to difficulty just walking out the door and down to the sidewalk. But one of the worst transgressions occurs every time a person comes into the home during a snowstorm. He or she not only tracks snow and mud on the floor, but their coat is covered with snow that gets over everything. Considering that most homes will toss the coat on a bed or chair, this does not bode well for the continued good condition of the furniture. A better solution is to have a coat rack near the door that the coat can be put on. This also allows for a smaller area to be cleaned directly beneath the coat rack, which can also have some form of absorbing or protective material to keep the resulting water from causing damage.
Getting a coat rack is not as simple a task as might be thought. The height of the rack influences both the price and how many hooks will be found on it, but there's another issue -- how tall are you? Having to reach up to place a coat places strain on your back and could even result in a fall. Since coat racks come in varying sizes, make sure the one you get is appropriate for your height.
Another issue is the design itself. There are those that want wood to compliment their decor, while others find the more modern steel look appealing. Regardless of your personal preference, this is a piece of furniture like any other, and so must blend into your home as seamlessly as possible. The best time to ensure this is before making the purchase. Then you'll only have one trip to deal with, instead of having to make a second to do the return and a third to bring the new one back.
